COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS AND APPLICATIONS
We support users in the development, optimization and parallelization of codes for the numerical solutions of partial differential equations based on both finite difference and finite elements methods. Our techniques aim to identify special computational nucleuses, in order to get the best performances in scalar, vector and parallel architectures.
We work together with the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) for the development of codes for the simulation of the seismic wave propagation in viscoelastic heterogeneous media. Another collaboration is with the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment (ENEA), studying the optimization and parallelization of codes for the simulation of ocean circulation.
In the field of Applied Mathematics, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, we are working to establish a center of excellence for the resolution of Hamilton-Jacobi equations in different applications. |
