AUTOMATION SERVICES OFFERED TO SBN RML-BIBLIOROMA POLE
The cataloguing in SBN of the Lincei Pole (RML-Biblioroma) libraries began in 1990, in a computation center at Accademia dei Lincei e Corsiniana: hence the name of "Lincei Pole". In 1996 the Pole's management infrastructure moved to CASPUR, along with its management task attribution.
CASPUR provides Lincei Pole with the following systems and application services:
- SBN server systems management
- ADABAS database management
- SBN Index connections management and monitoring
- Start-up and control of libraries, users and print backlogs
- Help-desk support to librarians
- OPAC management and updating, for online catalogues consultation
Technical details
Pole libraries' data are stored in a centralized DB PostegreSQL based. DB is installed in a Intel(R) server, powered with a Xeon(R) E5450 CPU at 3.00GHz, 5 GB RAM e 170 GB of external mass storage (SAN). The operating system is based on Linux Red Hat. |
