SERVICES OFFERED TO SBN-RMS POLE

CASPUR provides application and systems services to RMS Pole, to which most of the libraries of the University of Rome La Sapienza and Regione Lazio are related:

SBN server systems
Progress/Sebina database management
SBN Index connections management and control
Start-up and control of libraries, users and print backlogs
Help-desk support to librarians
Pole’s OPAC management
SBN shipment receipts management
Pole web server management and maintenance
Library registry web server management and maintenance

Technical details

SBN-RMS system is housed on a HP Proliant DL580 cluster, consisting of two server 4 processors (Xeon @ 1.9 Ghz) with 8 RAM GB each; one is dedicated to Sebina SBN management software, and the other to Sebina OPAC. Disks are external on SCSI in RAID 5 (about 500 GB total space). Connection to SBN Index is via TCP/IP architecture. Cataloguing software is SBN Sebina, produced by Akros Informatica.
