SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING SUPPORT
Our task is to guarantee the proper working of the Consortium’s network infrastructure, and to plan increases in capacity according to new requirements and technological developments. At the moment, our scientific computing infrastructure is carried out by a star-shaped center in Gigabit Ethernet technology (Extreme BlackDiamond), able to ensure a high speed interconnection with computing workstations.
The local network is planned using Virtual LAN (VLAN, IEEE 802.1Q), which, together with a high performance FW (Clavister), allows us to create a high performance infrastructure, extremely flexible and with an high degree of security. For every problem concerning network services’ management, we provide – through a daily facility – second level assistance to the CASPUR helpdesk. |
