Rome-Miami Viola Master Class
 On January, 30th, 2006, at the initiative of GARR, a “distance” master music class was successfully conducted by Italian maestro Luigi Alberto Bianchi, one of the world’s greatest viola players, with a New World Symphony Orchestra student in Miami. Maestro and student interacted at a distance, the first from CASPUR’s new auditorium in Rome (via dei Tizii, 2/c) and the second from Miami’s Lincoln Theatre.

Second International Workshop on OpenMP
 IWOMP'06 call for papers submission deadline has been extended to March 22.
IWOMP, the international workshop on OpenMP, unifies in one event all the local workshops on the parallel computing standard for shared memory systems of the past years. The second edition of the workshop will be held in Europe, in Reims, next June 12-15, 2006. The happening will include a tutorial and a lab session to experiment with the technology on one’s own codes, with the help of world experts.

Next April 3-7, 2006 CASPUR is going to organize the European spring session of the HEPiX meeting
 HEPiX is a forum that unifies IT system support engineers from the main High Energy Physics (HEP) laboratories and institutes, such as BNL, CERN, DESY, FNAL, IN2P3, INFN, JLAB, NIKHEF, RAL, SLAC, TRIUMF and others. The HEPiX meetings have been held regularly since 1991, and are an excellent source of information for IT specialists; that's why they enjoy a great adhesion also from the non-HEP institutes. The 2006 meeting will be held in Rome, at the Italian National Research Council's (CNR), and many IT specialists from CNR and other Italian research organizations (ENEA and INGV) will participate.
