WORKSHOP "ITALIAN UNIVERSITIES FOR OPEN ACCESS"
 On November 4 and 5 the workshop "Italian Universities for Open Access: Towards Open Access to Scholarly Literature" will be held and hosted by the University of Messina, Italy. The event is promoted by the Italian Council of Rectors (CRUI) and sponsored by AIB-Sicilia, CASPUR, CILEA, SPARC Europe, Open Society Institute.
The workshop will be hosted by the University of Messina, Italy. The first institutional event in Italy about Open Access promotion, it is made up by two distinct occurrences.
On the first day, after introductory talks by OA supporting institutions (D.Prosser - SPARC Europe, F. Friend and J.-C. Guedon, OSI), there will be a Press Conference and Signing Ceremony of a document to support Open Access by a number of Italian University Rectors.
On the second day a number of talks and a poster session will provide practical information and "how-tos" on open archives implementation: technicalities, costs, advocacy and copyright. Time for discussion will be devoted to constitute an Italian "open community" of OA people.
