OpenMP emerged as a unifying standard for shared memory parallel programming, allowing development of multithreaded programs which are portable across the majority of shared memory multiprocessors and parallel computers. OpenMP is considered as the definitive standard for shared memory parallel programming by a large and growing community of users, thanks to the wide availability of commercial and free development tools from system vendors, ISVs and research groups. The latter are very active in proposing for programming model and runtime support extensions, and the tools they developed also provide testing grounds for new ideas. The workshop, continuing the tradition of past editions and similar events (EWOMP'99, EWOMP 2000, EWOMP 2001, WOMPAT 2000 , WOMPAT 2001, and WOMPEI 2000), will bring together users, developers and researchers from academia, public and private research institutions and industry to share information, experiences and explore novel ideas around OpenMP. |
